Philanthrophy

FIJI is involved in philanthopies both on and off campus. Many of these are events hosted by various other Greek organizations. We create impressive showcases of our talents for AXO's "Mock Rock" and DG's "Anchorsplash", and tend to perform well in the sporting events such as ZTA's wiffleball. Currently, we have won ADPI's "Safari Hunt" five years in a row.
The FIJI Run Across Virginia is a cross-state run culminating in the presentation of the UVa vs. Virginia Tech game ball at their annual meeting in late November. We literally run a football from VT to UVA or vice versa. This has become one of the largest student run philanthropies at either school and benefits The JimmyV Foundation for cancer research. Participants in the run are members of FIJI, and come from both the UVa and Virginia Tech Chapters. Not only are these FIJI brothers the creators and operators of the run, but they are also the primary fundraisers for the charity. Last year the combined efforts of both chapters raised over $30,000 and brought the event total to over $200,000, making it the largest philanthropy event at Virginia Tech.
To support our annual Football Run, we host the FIJI Diamond Bowl a few weeks in advance to raise additional awareness and support. We invite sororities on campus to participate in a punt-pass-kick contest, followed by the grand finale - a four team flag football tournament.
